* This is a chipset specification; the connector equipment of a particular motherboard may vary. APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) is a processor with an integrated graphics unit. APUs for the A68H/A88X chipset use only second generation PCI-Express; other processors/chipsets work with the third generation.

What Chipset Should You Choose?

  • Office and multimedia (AM1, A68H, A88X, A320) - motherboards for the AM1 socket really shouldn't be used for anything except for office work. If you want an all-purpose home computer or extra multimedia applications, choose one of the A68H, A88X, or A320 chipsets instead.
  • Games, video creation, and 3D graphics (B350, X370) - both chipsets fully support overclocking. The X370 chipset offers more USB 3.0 ports, more internal SATA III (6Gb/sec) connectors, and support for NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards (SLI and CrossFire).
  • Workstations and servers (X399) - for powerful computing workstations, rendering, professional graphics design, video creation and editing, virtualisation, and for servers in general.
